Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Characterisation with Cambridge Consultants

Written by Simon Ford | Feb 12, 2024 8:59:37 PM

This week we started working with Cambridge Consultants, focusing on the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) performance characterisation for Blecon Hotspots and devices using our network.

We thought we'd share a quick look at the custom anechoic radio and antenna test chamber facilities we'll be using together.

If you haven't come across one before, an anechoic chamber is a room designed to completely absorb reflections of electromagnetic waves. The chamber's unique design eliminates external noise and reflections, allowing for precise measurement of an antenna's radiation pattern, signal strength, and overall device performance in a controlled setting.

Here is a video that gives you a peek in to the chamber and facilities we'll be using:

Cambridge Consultants, known for their expertise in engineering and technology development, bring deep expertise and insights and advanced testing capabilities.

The Cambridge Consultants' chamber is particularly advanced, equipped for automated three-dimensional measurement and visualisation. This capability is not just about assessing performance; it's about understanding how devices interact with their environment in every possible direction and scenario.

This is going to let us deliver some really interesting data and insights to customers designing with Blecon.

As we progress with our tests and analyses in the anechoic chamber, we're planning to share our findings and the implications they hold for the future of Bluetooth technology. The insights garnered from this collaboration will not only enhance device performance but also pave the way for new applications and improvements across the BLE ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more updates as we put the equipment to work!
